MasterCast LTD, Pawtucket, RI, announced the unexpected passing of owner and president David Katseff, MAS, on July 25 at the age of 76.
The company released the following statement:
In 1985, David acquired MasterCast LTD, which had been a struggling business, and he built it into a successful company over nearly 40 years. He augmented the product offerings of MasterCast by merging in numerous local Rhode Island promotional product suppliers, including Narragansett Emblems, Marken Industries, Amcraft, and most recently Superb Case.
David was very active volunteering in the industry as a director on the NEPPA board numerous times and serving on many PPAI committees. He was also a member of the Principal Connection, which was one of the first traveling groups of suppliers putting on sales and marketing presentations to distributors all over the country.
David also volunteered in many local business groups, including NFIB, the Rhode Island Business Group on Health, and the Rhode Island Health Insurance Advisory Council.
David is survived by his wife, Sharon; his sons, Joshua and Lyle; and his grandson, William.
His son, Joshua Katseff, who has been with him at MasterCast for almost 20 years, has assumed the management responsibilities of the company going forward.
David was a great friend and colleague to many in the industry. He will be deeply missed.
